Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 22

He Fights for You

The LORD Fights for You

The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
EXODUS 14:14 · ESV

Picture the position: a sea in front of you, an army closing in behind, and nowhere to run. That's where this line gets spoken — not in a moment of calm reflection, but in a full-blown panic with no visible way out. And the instruction isn't "fight harder" or "figure out a plan." It's "be still."

That's a hard thing to hear if you've built your whole life around solving your own problems. Silence doesn't feel like strategy. It feels like giving up. But the story insists the deliverance came from somewhere outside the people trapped on that shore — they didn't part the sea themselves.

Maybe you're not staring down an actual army, but you know what it's like to feel boxed in with no move left to make. This verse doesn't promise the water will always part exactly how you'd script it. It suggests something else: that being at the end of your own resources isn't the same as being out of options.

Where in your life would it actually help to stop pushing for a moment and see what shows up instead?

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
