Now the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firmly on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, and all Israel was passing over on dry ground until all the nation finished passing over the Jordan.
The Jordan was flooding when Israel needed to cross it — the text mentions elsewhere it was at flood stage, the worst possible timing. And yet the priests carrying the ark walk into the middle of the riverbed and just stand there, on dry ground, while an entire nation walks past them on the same dry ground, until every last person is across.
What's easy to miss is how long that standing lasted. Not a quick miracle where you close your eyes and it's over — thousands of people filing past, and the priests just holding their position in a riverbed that should have been underwater, for as long as it took.
Maybe you're waiting for something to resolve in your life and the waiting itself feels like the hardest part. This story isn't about the water being avoided. It's about impossible ground being made walkable, for exactly as long as everyone needed to get through.
