Then Joshua said to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasseh, “You are a numerous people and have great power. You shall not have one allotment only, but the hill country shall be yours, for though it is a forest, you shall clear it and possess it to its farthest borders. For you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.”
Ephraim and Manasseh complain that their allotted territory isn't big enough. A reasonable response might be sympathy, or a bigger handout. Instead Joshua tells them the truth: you're numerous and powerful, so go clear the forest yourself, and the land will be yours all the way to its farthest borders.
That's a strange kind of blessing — not a gift handed over finished, but a hard, unglamorous invitation to go make something usable out of what's already been given. The forest wasn't nothing. It was theirs, on paper, before a single tree came down. But it only became livable land through their own clearing of it.
Maybe you've been waiting for a breakthrough to just arrive fully formed, the way you picture other people's lives working out. This story suggests something less comfortable and maybe more honest: sometimes what you've already been given is enough to start with, if you're willing to do the clearing yourself.
