The Voice Behind You

This Is the Voice

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
ISAIAH 30:21 · ESV

The setting for this verse is a nation trying to solve its problems by making alliances with foreign powers instead of listening to the guidance it already had. Isaiah's response isn't a lecture about strategy — it's a promise of a voice, one that will keep speaking up from behind you, correcting course whenever you drift right or left.

What's notable is the timing: this is direction for people already moving, already prone to wander, not a map handed out in advance to the perfectly prepared. "This is the way, walk in it" assumes you'll need reminding, more than once, because straying is the default rather than the exception.

If your life has felt like a series of overcorrections, drifting one direction and yanking back the other way, this verse describes a voice built specifically for people who do that — not a one-time map, but ongoing correction from somewhere just behind you.

If your life has felt like constant overcorrection rather than a clear direction, this verse is describing a voice made for exactly that kind of drifting.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
