All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
"Breathed out by God" is a strange, physical image for a book. Not dictated, not merely inspired in the vague sense we use that word today — breathed, the way you breathe out air that was inside you a second ago. It's an image of origin, not just endorsement.
If you're approaching the Bible from the outside, that claim is worth taking seriously precisely because it's testable in a different way than most religious claims. This verse doesn't just say Scripture is sacred and untouchable. It says it's useful — for teaching, for correction, for training toward a better way of living. That's a functional claim. You can actually go find out whether reading it does what it says it does.
You don't have to accept the "breathed out by God" part on day one. But it's a fair starting point to treat this book the way the verse suggests: not as a museum piece to admire from a distance, but as something meant to be used, tested, and lived with.
If you've mostly seen the Bible as untouchable rather than useful, it might be worth testing what this verse claims it can actually do.
