And you shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it. After decades of wandering, this is almost a jarring sentence — settle. Stop moving. The thing you've been walking toward this whole time is not a future hope anymore, it's given, present tense.
There's a difference between a promise and a possession. A promise can keep you going through hardship, but at some point it has to actually land somewhere, or the waiting starts to feel like the whole story. This verse marks that shift — not more waiting, but arrival.
Maybe you've spent a long time hoping for something without letting yourself actually receive it, still bracing for one more setback. This verse is blunt about the order of things: the giving already happened. What's left is simply to settle into what's already yours.
