Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
This whole letter is fairly intense — end-times warnings, hard words about idleness, talk of judgment. Then it closes on this: a plain wish for peace, everywhere, all the time, from the Lord himself. It reads almost like an exhale after holding your breath.
That contrast is worth sitting with. Whatever else this verse's author believed about coming judgment, he didn't end on threat. He ended on a blessing — peace "at all times in every way," which is about as unconditional as language gets. It suggests that behind the harder parts of the letter is a posture that's fundamentally for the reader, not against them.
If you've mostly encountered religious talk that leans on fear or urgency, this line is a useful test case. Peace, offered without strings, addressed to "you all" — no exceptions carved out. You don't need to have sorted out everything else in this letter to notice that the last word it leaves you with is a blessing, not a warning.
If religious language has mostly sounded like warning to you, it might be worth noticing that this letter chooses to end on peace instead.
