"Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth." It's a request, not a claim to already know. Whoever wrote this wasn't announcing certainty — he was admitting he needed direction he didn't already have, and asking for it plainly.
The next line goes even further: "unite my heart to fear your name." That word "unite" suggests something scattered, pulled in different directions, not settled. If you've ever felt like half of you wants one thing and half wants another — half curious, half skeptical, half hopeful, half guarded — this verse names that exact condition and asks for it to be brought together, not judged.
You don't need a unified, tidy heart before you're allowed to ask this question. The verse itself is proof that the asking comes first, from someone who was divided and said so honestly.
