Everything Will Live

The Healing River

And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.
EZEKIEL 47:9 · ESV

Ezekiel watches a trickle of water flow out from under the temple threshold, and by the time he's measured it a few times, it's become a river too deep to cross. That alone would be a striking image. But then comes the detail that makes it unforgettable: everywhere this river touches, dead water turns fresh, and life shows up where nothing could survive before.

The original picture is about restoration on a national scale — a wrecked land coming back to life. But rivers don't ask permission from what they flow into. They just change it, wherever they reach.

It's worth asking what in your own life feels like the sea Ezekiel describes — brackish, unable to support much, written off as a lost cause. This verse doesn't promise a fix through effort or willpower. It describes something that arrives from outside a place and simply makes it livable again, just by reaching it.

If some part of your life feels like it's past saving, this river-image is worth letting reach it.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
